Once notorious for warehouses, wharves and sailors on leave, and the home of Gulliver before he set off on his travels, Wapping retains its ancient character with several pubs and the stone stairs leading down to the river. Execution Dock saw many a pirate hanged and lowered thrice into the river, including the notorious Captain Kidd in 1701.
A more benevolent use of timber included the barrels at Charrington’s now defunct brewery. Although the docks are a shadow of their former greatness, the tradition of construction with wood remains alive in wooden floors. Wood floors are practical and beautiful; hard wearing yet easy to keep clean. Whether old or new, they enhance all kinds of properties, from offices and cafés and bars to schools, gyms and domestic bodings.
Although maintenance is simple, they will wear over time. So when your floors are looking worn, tired, dull or damaged, it’s time for the modern solution. Wood floor repair and restoration from a professional Wapping floor sanding company.
Sanding wooden floorboards is one stage in a process that starts with wood floor repair and is completed by a protective sealant on the bare wood. Lacquer offers hard wear while the traditional oil or wax gives the natural look to your floor.

Did you know about Wapping E1?
The walk from St Katherine`s Dock to Limehouse along WAPPING HIGH STREET is one of the most thrilling in London. In the 18th and 19th centuries London was the busiest port in the world, and this area was its bustling maritime qarter. Sailors and stevedores came here from all over the world looking for work in the docks or entertainment in one of the hundreds of pubs.
Wapping is the birthplace of Docklands regeneration, the first place to see former warehouses converted to desirable residences, with large tracts of stylish houses and flats dating from the mid- ’80s onwards.
Close by, a narrow passageway along - side the Town of Ramsgate pub leads to Wapping Old Stairs where, in 1671, Colonel Thomas Blood (1618 – 80) was apprehended while trying to escape with Charles II`s crown jewels.
