Famous for its Cemetery and the Oratory, which when completed in 1884 was the largest catholic church in England. This very Italianate building was the marriage venue of Elgar in 1889 and Alfred Hitchcock in 1926.
Now a luxury area of classy shops and five star hotels, Brompton’s Victorian dwellings in the side streets demonstrate the virtues of solid construction in brick and timber. Wooden floors remain as popular as ever in all kinds of modern and older properties: from hotels and shops to homes, gyms, offices and restaurants.
They combine beauty with utility; hard wear with ease of maintenance. Yet wear and neglect can allow them to decline into shabbiness or more serious damage. If your floors need a facelift, get help from a West Brompton's floor sanding company.
Call on Sanding Wood Floors for the complete wood floor restoration service in West Brompton SW10.
After any repairs to damaged boards or parquet blocks, sanding removes the old layers of sealants to a bare smooth finish. The protective layer is then applied: lacquer for wear; oil or wax for natural beauty.
After 20 years of working on wood floors throughout London, we can deal with both modern and period floors. For all our parquet floor restoration projects we source the best original blocks from reclaimed suppliers for a perfect and authentic match.
With their unique dust collection systems, our sanding machines produce a minimum of mess and disruption. We can also work flexible hours at evenings or weekends – to minimise any closure and loss of business.

Useful facts about West Brompton:
West Brompton is an area of south-west London, England, within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The name refers to the older locality of Brompton to the east, although the areas of South Kensington and Earl's Court separate West Brompton from its namesake. Whilst in the early part of the 20th century, the whole area between Knightsbridge and here would have been known as Brompton, modern-day locals would not recognise Brompton and West Brompton as geographically contiguous. Today it still has its own Royal Mail London postcode of SW10 (though that also covers part of Chelsea).
The area now referred to as West Brompton centres on the Underground & railway station with the same name. The most notable place of interest in West Brompton is Brompton Cemetery. The Earl's Court exhibition centre is literally across the road from the station, but has its main entrance elsewhere and is generally associated with the adjacent locality of Earl's Court. In reality, the number of households who might identify themselves as part of West Brompton would probably be those within the catchment area of the Underground station. Other places include Chelsea Harbour, the now former London Transport Lots Road power station and the Finborough Theatre.
West Brompton station is in West Brompton. This provides London Underground District Line services to Wimbledon in a Southerly direction and Edgware Road and Upminster to the North and East. It is possible also to change at Earls Court (1 stop or a short walk) for District line services to Ealing Broadway and Richmond as well as Kensington Olympia. The West London Line also provides services between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction as well as Croydon. Fulham Broadway station is very close.
